Although I’ve had no advanced training in photography, trial and error has been my constant companion along with reading books by well-known photographers. My intense desire to see all of what America and the world have to offer is insatiable. The need to record and preserve these moments in time introduced me to photography. This, combined with a love of travel across America, especially the southwest, blossomed into a love affair that would last a lifetime.

I grew up and was formally educated in a small town (Jasper) in extreme east Texas where hunting and fishing is the norm. I witnessed and participated in the slow decimation of the once plentiful pine tree forests.; timber is east Texas’ economy.

As a youngster, my parents introduced me to the mountains and caves of western Arkansas. Thus began a lifelong journey of exploration. As a teenager, we ventured west to visit the Grand Canyon, national parks in southern Utah and southwestern Colorado. I knew instantly here is where I belonged. Over the next thirty years, I would spend precious vacation time visiting these places again and again. If the opportunity ever presented itself, I would heed the call and go west. In the fall of 2002, it did.

The canyons of the southwest, the cacti of the Sonoran Desert and the mountains of southwest Colorado hold the greatest fascination for me and that is why Flagstaff, Arizona is where I currently call home.
